詞匯
托福首先要攻克的一關是詞匯。關于托福詞匯課程，基礎比較好的同學可以選擇不上這門課，自己按照詞根詞綴分類法進行背誦。托福詞匯本身量相對來說并不是很大。對于一些基礎相對薄弱的同學，詞匯課會有一些幫助，主要是教會大家從詞根詞綴來記憶并推測生詞詞義，還有一些延伸的背詞方式。
閱讀
托福閱讀給出的時間相對比較充裕，平常練習的時間每篇大概滿打滿算在20分鐘之內，不用刻意提升閱讀速度，但是在考場的時候由于緊張或者試題難度真的有所變化，末尾一篇差一點沒有做完。所以大家平時做練習，控制在每篇18分左右，這樣在考場上能留出一些.
托福前景
1）英式文化VS.美式文化
IELTS考試是以國際化為出發(fā)點，涉及的文化地理等方面知識以英澳兩國居多。托福是以美國英語為基礎的。這是標準的美國發(fā)音。還有美國的成語和俚語，它們涉及到很多美國歷史、文化、政治、地理等等。
（2）單獨技能VS.綜合技能
雖然都是分為聽、說、讀、寫四科分別測試，但雅思考試的四科測試要相對獨立新托?？荚嚨碾y點之一是綜合技能考試。一個典型的例子是，當受試者完成一次寫作測試時，他讀一段文字三分鐘，然后聽一篇聽力材料兩分鐘，然后說一分鐘，或者寫一篇150-225字的作文，說明文章和聽力材料之間的關系再過20分鐘。
（3）雅思用途VS.托福用途
新托福的成績只能用于留學申請使用，而雅思考試因為有A類和G類之分，A類的雅思成績用于留學申請，G類的雅思成績則可以用于申請移民，所以雅思考試有更廣泛的應用范圍。

2005年9月，美國教育考試服務中心（ETS）在世界范圍內推出了一種新的綜合英語考試方法，即托福網考（TOEFL IBT），它可以反映一流院校教學和校園生活中語言的實際需要。
新托福由四部分組成，分別是閱讀（Reading）、聽力(Listening）、口試（Speaking）、寫作（Writing）。每個部分的滿分為30分，整個測試的滿分為120分。
托福學習的好處

In today’s society there is also an overarching stigma that degrades the general status of the teaching profession. Many people in society believe that those who cannot be successful in any other profession become teachers. If you love playing the piano but are not accomplished enough to become a concert pianist, then you become a piano teacher. Teaching is also seen as a mediocre career, because the average salary of a teacher is much lower than many other professions. This is not to say that there are not many intelligent and successful teachers. I know many teachers who gave up a better career because they found teaching to be much more rewarding of a career. However, this does not change the opinion of society as a whole towards the teaching profession.
When compared to the elite status many teachers held in history, there is no doubt that teachers today are not as respected as teachers in the past. In today’s society, being a teacher is not considered the most successful or respected career.
