　　"木碗"折射孝順觀

　　A frail old man lived with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. His hands trembled and his eyesight was blurred, which made eating rather difficult: peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor; when he grasped the glass milk often spilled on the tablecloth.

　　一位年老體衰的老人和兒子、兒媳及四歲的小孫子生活在一起。老人的雙手顫抖，眼睛昏花，吃飯成了相當(dāng)困難的事兒：豆子從他的勺子里滾到地板上;拿杯子時(shí)牛奶常灑在桌布上。

　　The old man’s son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess, so they set a small table in the corner and let him eat alone there. Since he had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.

　　兒子和兒媳對(duì)這種亂糟糟的樣子感到很反感，便在角落給老人單獨(dú)擺了張小桌，讓老人一個(gè)人在那里吃飯。由于老人曾打碎了一兩只盤子，所以他的飯碗也被換成了一只木碗。

　　Sometimes the old man had a tear in his eye as he ate alone. When he dropped a fork or spilled food, the only words the couple had for him were very sharp. The grandson watched it all in silence.

　　老人獨(dú)自吃飯時(shí)，眼里有時(shí)會(huì)含著淚花。當(dāng)他把叉子掉在地上或?yàn)⒘耸澄飼r(shí)，夫婦二人便會(huì)對(duì)他說一些很難聽的話。小孫子靜靜地看著發(fā)生的一切。

　　One evening, the husband noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child, “What are you making?” The boy responded, “Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and mama to eat your food from when I grow up.”

　　一天晚上，丈夫發(fā)現(xiàn)兒子正在地板上玩木塊，便問孩子：“你在做什么?”兒子回答：“哦，我在給你和媽媽做小碗，等我長(zhǎng)大了給你們用?！?

　　On hearing the boy’s words, the couple were speechless and tears started to stream down their cheeks. That evening the husband took his father's hand and gently led him back to the family table.

　　夫婦倆聽完孩子的話后沉默無語，開始淚流滿面。那晚，丈夫拉著父親的手，輕輕地把他帶到家里的飯桌旁。

　　The old man ate every meal with the family from then on. And neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

　　從此，老人每一頓飯都和家人一起吃。當(dāng)叉子掉在地上，牛奶被弄灑，桌布被弄臟時(shí)，夫婦倆也都不那么在意了。

　　Children are remarkably perceptive. Their eyes always observe, their ears always listen, and their minds always process the messages they absorb. If they see their parents patiently provide a happy home atmosphere for family members, they will imitate that attitude for the rest of their lives.

　　孩子有驚人的洞察力。他們一直在用眼睛觀察，用耳朵傾聽，并用頭腦處理著接收的信息。如果他們看見父母耐心地為家庭成員提供一個(gè)快樂的家庭氛圍，他們就會(huì)在今后的生活中模仿這種態(tài)度。
