中國的鐵路建設(shè)始于清朝(the Qing Dynasty)末年。自新中國成立后，中國的鐵路得到了飛速發(fā)展。目前中國擁有僅次于美國和俄羅斯的全球第三大鐵路網(wǎng)。在中國，鐵路是國家重要的基翅設(shè)施(infrastructure)、大眾化的交通工具。每逢寒暑假、節(jié)假日，總會出現(xiàn)“一票難求”的現(xiàn)象。據(jù)報(bào)道，中國將優(yōu)先發(fā)展西部地區(qū)，特別是貧困地區(qū)的鐵路，引導(dǎo)當(dāng)?shù)厝嗣褡呦蛑赂恢贰?

表達(dá)難點(diǎn)

1.第2句“中國的鐵路得到了飛速發(fā)展”如果直譯為Chinese railway has developed rapidly則顯平淡，此處可用see表示“(時(shí)代等)以…為特點(diǎn)，歷經(jīng)……”的意義，將其譯為Chinese railway seen rapid development，這樣譯文更生動(dòng)地道。

2.第3句中的定語“僅次于美國和俄羅斯的”較長，故將其處理成后置定語，表達(dá)為only second to the United States and Russia.

3.第5句“總會出現(xiàn)‘一票難求’的現(xiàn)象”是漢語中的無主語句，其常見的處理方式有：增添主語;譯為被動(dòng)語態(tài);譯成there be結(jié)抅;使用形式主語it。結(jié)合該句，可使用形式主語it，譯成it is difficult to get a train ticket;或并充出主語譯為Chinese travelers find it difficult to…，“一票難求”可用find it difficult to do sth.句型來表達(dá)。

4.最后一句中的“優(yōu)先發(fā)展……”和“引導(dǎo)當(dāng)?shù)厝嗣褡呦蛑赂恢贰痹谠闹惺遣⒘薪Y(jié)構(gòu)，但實(shí)際上后者表目的，故將其譯作目的狀語to lead to wealth for local people，“引導(dǎo)走向致富之路”用短語lead to wealth比直譯為lead people to the path of wealth更簡潔地道。

Railway construction in China began in the late Qing Dynasty. Chinese railway has seen rapid development since the founding of New China. Currently, China has the world's third largest railway network only second to the United State and Russia. Railway is an important infrastructure of the country and a popular traffic tool. During the summer and winter vacations, and national holidays, Chinese travellers always find it difficult to get a train ticket. It is reported that China will prioritize railway development in western regions, particular the areas, to lead to wealth for local people.
