英語(yǔ)四級(jí)：9月將成為北京堵月

從北京市交通部門獲悉，受新學(xué)年開學(xué)、中秋國(guó)慶雙節(jié)等因素影響，9月將迎來(lái)全年“最堵月”。有9天將達(dá)到嚴(yán)重?fù)矶?，其?天高峰擁堵指數(shù)達(dá)9.0。

Beijing entered what has become its most congested month on Monday, as the now ubiquitous "school run" clogged the city thoroughfares on the first day of the new school term.

周一，新學(xué)期開學(xué)第一天，接送學(xué)生的車輛擠滿了市內(nèi)各個(gè)路口，北京迎來(lái)“最堵月”。

每年的9月都被交通部門稱為“最堵月”(the most congested month)，不只是因?yàn)檫@個(gè)月學(xué)校開學(xué)，接送學(xué)生的車輛增多，還因?yàn)閭鹘y(tǒng)的中秋節(jié)(Mid-Autumn Festival)和國(guó)慶節(jié)(National Day)假期一般都在這個(gè)月緊隨而來(lái)，出門訪友、購(gòu)物以及旅游的人也普遍會(huì)增加。

既然是全年最堵月，我們就說(shuō)一說(shuō)英文中有關(guān)“堵車”的相關(guān)表達(dá)：traffic jam/congestion是最常見的說(shuō)法，比如：We are held up in a traffic jam(我們遇上堵車了);其他說(shuō)法還有snarl-up、hold-up、traffic gridlock、heavy traffic或者clogged traffic等，如，They arrived late due to a motorway hold-up.

為了緩解道路交通壓力，北京市呼吁市民盡量選擇公共交通(public transport)出行，對(duì)私家車先后實(shí)行了車牌搖號(hào)(license-plate lottery)和尾號(hào)限行(traffic restrictions based on the last digit of license plate numbers)政策，另外，還考慮對(duì)車輛收取擁堵費(fèi)(congestion fee)。
