托?？谡Z(yǔ)：Butterfly idleness表達(dá)悠閑的生活

an entirely new phase of existence——a butterfly idleness;nothing to do, nobody to be responsible to, and untroubled with financial uneasiness...San Francisco was Paradise to me. I lived at the best hotel, exhibited my clothes in the most conspicuous places, infested the opera...I spend monty with a free hand, and meantime watched the stock sales with an interested eye.

尤其是后面兩個(gè)句子，說(shuō)花錢(qián)大手大腳，就是“spend money with a free hand"非常形象的表達(dá)，如果說(shuō)揮金如土可以寫(xiě)成 squander money like water 但是最為美麗的是后面卻用了一個(gè)interested eye 這個(gè)表達(dá)方法。

infeste the opera也是一個(gè)非常有意思的說(shuō)法，infest有兩個(gè)含義，第一是：to spread or swarm in or over in a troublesome manner 比如 a slum infested with crime就是說(shuō)一個(gè)犯罪成災(zāi)的貧民窟，再比如 shark-infested waters說(shuō)這片水域里面鯊魚(yú)非常多。

第二個(gè)是 to live in or on as a parasite 像寄生在。。。。。上面似的。如果說(shuō)某人對(duì)。。。非常上癮，就可以說(shuō)infest

首句中Butterfly idleness說(shuō)作者自己“清閑得如同蝴蝶一樣”這樣的修辭是我們自己創(chuàng)造不出來(lái)的。而通過(guò)閱讀，就學(xué)會(huì)了。

如果托福口語(yǔ)考題問(wèn)你閑時(shí)候都怎么度過(guò)，你就可以用到這個(gè)單詞了。你可以說(shuō)：
