A region's gross domestic product,or GDP,is one of the ways for measuring the size of its economy.The GDP of a country is defined as the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period of time.It is also considered the sum of value added at every stage of production of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period of time.Until the 1980s the term GNP or gross national product was used in the United States.The two terms GDP and GNP are almost identical - and yet entirely different; GDP being concerned with the region in which income is generated and GNP (or GNI - Gross National Income) being a measure of the accrual of income to a region.The most common approach to measuring and understanding GDP is the expenditure method:

4月16日，國家統(tǒng)計局發(fā)布2014年一季度經(jīng)濟數(shù)據(jù)。數(shù)據(jù)顯示，一季度GDP128213億元，增長7.4%。

The NBS said that preliminary data showed the nation's gross domestic  product (GDP) reached 12.8213 trillion yuan ($2.08 trillion) in the first  quarter, growing 7.4% year on year.

國家統(tǒng)計局指出，初步數(shù)據(jù)顯示我國一季度國內(nèi)生產(chǎn)總值(GDP)為128213億元，同比增長7.4%。

國際統(tǒng)計局(National Bureau of Statistics)公布的2014年第一季度國內(nèi)生產(chǎn)總值增速(gross domestic product/GDP growth rate)7.4%略高于市場預(yù)期(market estimates)的7.3%，開局平穩(wěn)，總體良好(generally in good health)。經(jīng)濟學(xué)家表示，增速放緩意味著經(jīng)濟下行壓力加大(heavier downward pressure on the economy)，不過仍在合理區(qū)間內(nèi)(within reasonable range)。

此次發(fā)布的數(shù)據(jù)還包括規(guī)模以上工業(yè)增加值(output growth of industries with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more from their main business operations)、固定資產(chǎn)投資(fixed asset investment)、社會消費品零售總額(total retail sales of consumer goods)、全國居民人均可支配收入(average per-capita disposable income of both urban and rural residents)、居民消費價格(consumer price index， CPI)等。
